Firestone Walker Proprietor’s Vintage Series, Parabola

Published By

Established in 1996 by two brothers in law (Adam Firestone and Dave Walker, thus the name), Firestone Walker has been a major player in the west coast craft beer scene since its inception. And while they’re well known for such monster favorites as the imminently drinkable 805 and extra juicy Mind Haze, the brewery is no stranger to dark and barrel aged beers either.

This is put on full display with the release of “Parabola,” a barrel aged imperial stout that clocks in at a massive 14 percent ABV. But this is not your typical barrel aged beer only rested for a bare few months before bottling—this has been sitting for a full 12 months in a barrel that previously held precious 12-year-old bourbon. As a result, you’ll get mature and developed aromas of caramel, vanilla, and toasted grains on the nose, and a richly warming palate filled with baking spices, fudge, and tobacco.

  • ABV: 14%
  • IBU: 55
  • Origin: Paso Robles, CA

An anticipated limited-release stout from a top-notch California brewery—grab it if you see it.
